Speaking of green careers, I am fortunate enough both to have one and to be hiring a full-time assistant (for a four-month duration). Come and learn more at http://www.diamondcutlife.org/

Oh, yes..... I own a forum and I really have to watch myself. Without a boss breathing down my neck to meet deadlines, I had days when I found myself chatting on my forum more than working on my sites.

It's a fine line. I don't want to suck all of the fun out of it because the monotony would drive me insane. But I can't twiddle away my hours either. Before I even look at my computer in the morning now, I decide exactly what I need to do in the next hour. If I work productively for that hour, I'll spend 10-15 minutes on my forum. It works well so far.

Good luck with your endeavors.

I think people are scared to really tackle hard tasks because it's easier to coast by. If you take a big risk and F it up then everyone comes down on you, but if you just do what is needed you can get by. They don't see the huge upside to taking on a big job and succeeding. They see the pain and hide from it.

Companies need to encourage mistakes and major F ups, so the employee feels comfortable making big stabs into the unknown. If the succeed the company wins too.

Good post! Important topic! The world, especially the U.S. needs many more people seeking this kind of work, creating the demand and filling it. And they need lots of information of the type you're supplying. By coincidence, my most recent post is also on green career-building. Come visit at Diamond-Cut Life, http://alison97215.wordpress.com/
