This is my first blog. I’m experimenting with the format, trying to figure out the way I want to talk about work, careers, and life purpose. The thing is, I want to write about more than work, careers, and life purpose; I want to write about sustainability and social change as well. Where is our world headed, and what does its direction illuminate about the type of work we do here?

My background is fairly various. I was managing editor at WetFeet from 1997 to 2000, where I learned all about careers and job functions in areas like management consulting, investment banking, the Internet, and consumer products. More recently, I wrote WetFeet’s guide to Green Careers, due out May 2008. In between I spent a lot of time researching and writing about sustainability — the whole green movement. Back in 2001 or so, I was pretty sure sustainability was going to be huge, if only because the capacity of the earth’s ecosystems have been seriously stressed, forcing us to figure out ways to restore or at the very least not destroy them. The alternative is pretty grim: The destruction of our habitat.

Anyway, my name’s Frank, this is my blog, enjoy watching me fumble around to find my voice on these themes. Comments are encouraged; please let me know how I’m doing, if the info here is useful, and what else you’d like to hear about, not to mention your own ideas.
